PirateCraft is a modded survival and creative server that adds many pirate, medieval, and boat related features to the game, some of which include, large moving ships, cannons, raids, and pirate brews. A cool concept, but is it a fun server?

For the most part, PirateCraft is a normal survival multiplayer server. Starting out you would do what you usually would on a normal SMP. However, once you have gear and supplies, that’s when the fun starts. You can build ships, fight at sea, lay siege to other players’ colonies, craft potions, make working drawbridges and portcullises, and have fun in an interesting modded Minecraft experience. I really like this server because although the mods include large new features, the game still feels for the most part like good old Minecraft. However, despite the many raids and sieges on the server, it is not anarchy. The server does implement rules that prevent players from cheating and saying bad things in the chat. The server also includes an anti grieving plugin that lets you protect your base.

When I logged on, I spawned on a large ship that acted as a sort of lobby. I used the /wilderness command to put myself into the survival world. I did some normal survival things and managed to build a small operational boat. I asked chat what they thought of the server. Many of them said that it was fun, and that you had be careful for raids, because pvp is common on the server. They also said that the server was dying, so please, give the server a little support. One player told to say in my review that there was player named shdw going around killing and raiding players, so make sure be careful on the seas. I tried out the creative server as well and it really was a just a classic creative server where you picked a plot and built something in it.

Overall, I thought that this was a cool server with a cool concept. Please check this server out because it really needs some support. Go to the server website at piratemc.com.
